04 Banners GestaoEInovacao TGLThe Core Laboratory for Technology, Management and Logistics Studies (TGL), coordinated by Professor Elton Fernandes, aims to contribute to the advancement of knowledge, in theoretical terms and in practical applications, in strategic approaches in three areas: technology, management and logistics.

His research involves approaches: organizational, sectoral and national. Its main activity is the training of researchers who are preparing to work in public and private initiatives or who already work in these areas and seek to improve their knowledge through “stricto sensu” graduate teaching.

Over the years, activities have been taking place through research on topics selected by students and researchers linked to TGL, cooperation with external researchers from other teaching/research institutions (national and foreign) and organizations (public and private), and realization specific research financed by funding agencies and organizations (public and private).

The results are materialized for society through the publication of research results, for example, articles presented at scientific conferences and published in national and international scientific journals. In the case of specific surveys, the reports with the respective recommendations, presented to funders, become the main element. Although TGL considers the explanation of research results, through the publication of articles, books and reports, of great relevance, the main product for society is the certainty of more qualified professionals for the exercise of research, with robust theoretical bases, which we believe in making a difference for the advancement of society and its organizations (public and private).

03 Banners GestaoEInovacao LordeThe Laboratory for Resource Optimization, Operational Simulation and Decision Support (LORDE), coordinated by Professor Virgílio José Martins Ferreira Filho, was founded in 2002 with the objective of centralizing and supporting research carried out in Production Engineering and Petroleum Engineering at COPPE and the Polytechnic School related to the topics of mathematical modelling, optimization and simulation in decision problems.

The main objective of the Laboratory is the development of methodologies and intelligent tools, based on data and rules, based on the analysis of uncertainties and supported in a high-performance computing environment, for the planning and integrated management of operations and logistics, aiming to optimize resources. Chain, increasing its efficiency and effectiveness.

These methodologies are developed for strategic, tactical and operational planning, with a vision of applications, mostly, in the oil, natural gas and biofuels chain, providing better conditions for competitiveness, profitability and efficiency to national companies and the sector.

The Laboratory includes two major areas of interest that address the following themes: (i) Development of methodologies, based on data, to identify, characterize, qualify and estimate the uncertainties present in the production process; (ii) Modeling via mathematical programming, systems simulation and optimization under uncertainty for the design of logistics networks and Integrated operations and logistics management.

05 Banners GestaoEInovacao GENTECOPPE's Ergonomics and New Technologies Group (GENTE) is one of the main Ergonomics Research and Development groups in Latin America, led by Professor Mario Cesar Vidal, one of the oldest Ergonomics professionals working in Brazil. GENTE is a multi-user laboratory dedicated to Training, Research and Development of Ergonomics in Latin America since 1991.

The purpose of the group is to bring together students, at different levels of education and alumni, in a national scientific cooperation network to carry out integrated projects, joint publications and exchange and mobility for national sandwich internships, post-doctorate and other forms of integration such as the BResil Network, which integrates six universities and research centers nationwide, with international cooperation events with Canada, France and China.

The network has made publications on various topics, but always within the context of research and development of Ergonomics of complex systems and Engineering of resilience. In the didactic field, it is one of the national groups that has published the most books in Portuguese on methods, techniques and case studies, since 2003. In general, the group remains among the most productive in the country.

The group includes Professor Paulo Victor Carvalho from IEN-CNEM, Professors Alessandro Jatobá and Hugo Cesar Bellas from Fiocruz, Professor Maria Christine Werba Saldanha from UFPB, and Ricardo José Matos de Carvalho from UFRN, in addition to a group of Master's and PhD students from PEP.

01 Banners GestaoEInovacao LabFuzzyThe Fuzzy Mathematics and Logic Laboratory (LABFUZZY) is a center of excellence at UFRJ in the development of solutions involving fuzzy logic. Among its lines of research, the following stand out: locational studies using the Coppe-Cosenza model; economic modelling for market research and design; solving production problems; fuzzy systems for decision analysis; fuzzy information systems; hybrid systems comprising neuro, fuzzy genetic and fuzzy AHP.

The Laboratory's infrastructure includes a project room, an algorithm modelling room, an administrative unit (secretariat) and a core of high-level studies, where the coordinators receive international researchers.

The Laboratory develops customized projects for public and private companies, national and international, offering IT applications and consulting solutions for data processing, data mining, big data, prediction, planning and decision-making support.

Additionally, LABFUZZY conducts short, medium and long-term courses exploring fuzzy logic techniques and applications, as well as events in the form of seminars, workshops and extraordinary conferences with the participation of renowned researchers.

The researches are led by emeritus professors Carlos Alberto Nunes Cosenza and Francisco de Moraes Accioli Doria, with the support of researchers at post-doctoral, doctoral and master's levels.

The approaches are multidisciplinary and comprehensive for problems of production, complex engineering, computing, economics, health, education, environment, ergonomics, project management, technological risks and are applicable to any areas of knowledge in society.
